“How to Raise a Monarch Butterfly.”

The presentation is a compilation of experiences I’ve had since the first time I watched a butterfly emerge from a chrysalis. I was stunned. I was even more astounded later on when I watched a caterpillar turn into a chrysalis. Using humor and wit, I explain how easy it is to raise a butterfly. I relate my personal experiences to the audience and explain that even though caterpillars are an extremely low maintenance pet, there are a few basic principles that need to be adhered to. My goal is to instill enough confidence in others so they can raise a caterpillar and witness the phenomena of metamorphosis themselves.

The PowerPoint presentation is augmented with live butterfly exhibits which include eggs, caterpillars, chrysalises and butterflies when possible. Additionally, my display includes samples of simple cages made from recycled household materials, reference books, photos, posters, and other hands on materials. All audiences, from preschoolers to Nursing Home Resident’s, will find the presentation engaging, entertaining, and educational.
